Cameron & District Traverses Missouri With Three Major Performances In May 2023

Kansas City, Missouri - The Cameron & District Pipe Band's busy May 2023 performance schedule will culminate with its annual appearance in Canton, Missouri. By month's end, the band will have twice travelled border to border in the State of Missouri, logging over 1,000 miles.
In early May, Cameron & District Pipe Band played in its debut contest for the 2023 season. The band performed a march strathspey & reel set, as well as a medley, at the St. Louis Scottish Games and Cultural Festival on May 6, 2023. Cameron & District was also chosen to serve as the duty band for the closing ceremony of the games.
On May 7, 2023, the band performed for the Second Baptist Church, Liberty, Missouri, at the congregation's Sunday afternoon picnic. The picnic capped off Second Baptist's "Serve Sunday" volunteer projects. The Second Baptist Church's facilities have proven to be a wonderful place for the band's weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals and the band was pleased to have been invited to play for the volunteers.
The third May performance will be in Canton, Missouri on May 13, 2023 where the band will play for the Culver-Stockton College 2023 Commencement. The State of Missouri chartered Culver-Stockton College in 1853 (Originally named Christian University) as the first coeducation university west of the Mississippi. The band loves playing for this historic college.
Following the busy May schedule, the band will be rehearsing and then travelling to Chicago, Illinois to compete in the band's second contest of the season at the Chicago Scots 37th Annual Scottish Festival & Highland Games on June 16-17, 2023 in Itasca. Of note, at Chicago in 2022 in its grade 3 debut, the band took third place with an ensemble preference.
On September 2, the band's third contest for the 2023 season will be in Waukesha, Wisconsin at the Mid America Pipe Band Championships/Wisconsin Highland Games, Waukesha County Expo Center. The band will be defending its 2022 1st Place Band and Best Bass/Midsection prizes.
Since its formation in 2017, Cameron & District Pipe Band has the distinction of twice being awarded Midwest Pipe Band Association Champion Supreme; first in Grade 4 (2021) and in its first year in Grade 3 (2022). The Band is keenly focused on competition and has either won or placed in every contest it has entered.
